Fr. Mike French, S.J

 

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on March 29th, 1946, he entered the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus on July 30th, 1964, at the Novitiate of St. Isaac Jogues, in Wernersville, Pennsylvania.

In the 11 years of preparation for ordination, he received a Bachelor’s degree from Fordham University (with a double-major in Philosophy and Mathematics), a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Washington (Seattle), and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Loyola University in Maryland.  He was ordained a priest in June 1975, in the Alumni Chapel at Loyola College, in Baltimore, Maryland.

His ministry has included teaching and administration in various High Schools, Colleges, and Universities, as well as serving as the director of the Jesuit Health Care facility in St. Louis, Missouri.

Most recently, he spent 5 years as a retreat director at Manresa House of Retreats, in Convent, Louisiana.  While serving in that position, he also assisted in enhancing their internet outreach (including the addition of live streaming of their preached retreats), and was engaged in presenting preached retreats, private retreats for individuals, and individual spiritual direction.

Fr. Mike moved to his new assignment at Montserrat Jesuit Retreat House in July, 2022.
