The Mission of Montserrat Retreat House is to bring the transforming Good News of Jesus Christ to individuals and society.
AT MONTSERRAT
Our work is anchored in and grows from the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius. We realize our mission primarily by offering silent retreats. This experience, culturally and ecumenically sensitive, helps establish and sustain the spiritual life of men and women.
Montserrat's mission is also realized in the work of the St Edmund Campion Jesuit Spirituality Center which offers programs and retreat workshops for the serious disciple, and those working in ministries in the church.
We make the facilities and services available to the local churches for use by groups of Catholics and those of other faiths.
FROM MONTSERRAT:
We work with the dioceses and parishes by reaching out to provide spiritual formation based on Ignatian spirituality, especially of Hispanics, for service and leadership in Church and society.
Pope Benedict XVI endorsed Ignatian Spirituality by the Jesuits in his address to the Thirty-Fifth General Congregation of the Society of Jesus February 21, 2008:
“The Spiritual Exercises are the foundation of your [Jesuit] spirituality and the matrix of your Constitutions, but they are also a gift that the Spirit of the Lord has made to the entire Church: it is for you to continue to make it a precious and efficacious instrument for the spiritual growth of souls, for their initiation to prayer, to meditation, in this secularized world in which God seems to be absent.”
