 St. Ignatius talks about finding desolation in prayer, but sometimes periods of dryness and difficulty have a part in God’s plan for our spiritual life.  I will explain some of the reasons that Ignatius says that we might experience desolation in our prayer.  In fact, Ignatius’ insights might even help us understand struggles/difficulties in other parts of our life as well.
