Honesty with God

In the third chapter of Genesis, there's this wonderful little side story where

we’re told that in the cool of the evening God used to walk in his garden with

his beloved Adam and Eve and share with them all of the wonder and joy and

happiness that He and they saw in all of creation.

It’s a wonderful image of how at home Adam and Eve were with God. They

can just walk with him in the cool of the evening.

This image shows how much he loved them, that he would accept their

company. This company surely meant that they could be compassionate and

transparent with each other as well.

God has never stopped inviting us to walk with him, and to open our good

and our bad with him, with transparency before a loving God. We don’t have

to have a veneer to cover ourselves in our conversation with the Lord. We can

be honest with him about the fears that are in our hearts as well as about the

sorrows, the disappointments, as well as our joys and every wonderful thing

in our lives.

What might you need to share with God today? What concerns you? What

do you talk about with other people?

Perhaps you can share that with God and see what he might want to say to

you.
